Exalted

The way up is down.  Paul now takes us from the lowest of the low, death on a cross, voluntary, chosen out of obedience & shows us the result. When we go low, God lifts us up.

Humility in the Flesh

This text was a hymn that was sung during communion in the first century.  Paul uses the doctrinally rich song as an example of 'Humility in the Flesh'.  He drives home a humility based unity using King Jesus as our example and empowerment.

Worthy of the Gospel

In this exposition of Philippians 1:27-30, we see Paul turn from reporting on his situation to his expectation of the Saints.  This section, specifically vs 27, has been called his purpose statement for the rest of the letter.  Unity is a major theme.  The words one, together, & same show up frequently in this letter that explains how to have joy.  We all need this one!

Dying with a Smile

The death toll is 100% & yet we're amazingly proficient at ignoring the inevitable.  The question is WHY?  I think we know the answer but again, we don't want to say it.  So today we are, yet again, challenged to answer the question honestly, "For me, to live is ____________. ). The honest answer leads us to answer the next - "And to die is _______)

Live Christ

If for me to live is Christ then to die is gain.  This is a conditional syllogism.  If my life is all about Christ then my death is a gain.  That is the only way it works.  If life is not about, all about Christ then death should be feared.  Come and see the witness to Paul's singular devotion to his King.

Shadow to Substance

We are such good Gentiles that sometimes we forget the Hebrew roots of our faith.  Join the journey from the shadow of the Old Covenant to the Substance of the New, see Jesus like you've never seen him before.  Be forewarned, you may never see Holy Week the same.

Living a Gospel Focused Life

Sounds trite but after you listen to this outstanding exposition of Philippians 1:12-18 by Rev. Eric Freel.  He helps us to see that the "Gospel" wasn't a word, it was a life focus and it had a radical impact, not only on Paul's life but on mine to and yours if you'll let it.

Love.  That's the one theme and request that Paul has for his favorite Church.  How's your agape these days?  Full & overflowing, trickling like a dried up stream or dammed up in your sin?  We have the super abounding love of the Holy Spirit in us so if its not coming out, well that's a you problem.
